Seether and Skillet Take Over the Lawn at White Oak Music Hall

Seether and Skillet visited the Lawn at White Oak Music Hall on October 5 during their co-headline tour with support from Tim Montana and Royale Lynn.

Seether and Skillet are two bands that defined the sound of 2000’s alternative rock music. Many of those born in the early 2000’s may remember their parents singing along to both of the popular bands on the radio, or maybe they even owned a CD or two. Nonetheless, both Seether and Skillet brought in fans of all ages to their show on the Lawn at White Oak Music Hall on October 5.

As the night began, Royale Lynn took to the stage. The country-turned-rock artist from Canada truly impressed the audience with her breathtaking voice and outstanding performance. Her first song was her newest single “SACRIFICE”, which was released on September 18. She also played a cover of Flyleaf’s “All Around Me” as well as her most popular tracks “Six Feet Deep” and “Death Wish”. Royale Lynn was a perfect opening act to get the crowd ready for the exciting performances to come.

Next up was country rock artist Tim Montana. The singer songwriter from Montana was quick to share how excited he was to be touring with the bands on the bill. He had an authentic, friendly demeanor which made his performance even more enjoyable. He and his band performed many catchy tunes including the track “Die Today” from his new record Savage, which he dedicated to veterans, first responders, and military personnel. At the end of his set, he brought out Royale Lynn to perform his most popular song “Devil You Know” with him.

Skillet began their performance by playing “Feel Invincible” from their 2016 record Unleashed. Formed in 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee, the Christian rock band consists of husband and wife John Cooper (lead vocals, bass) and Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar), as well as drummer and backing vocalist Jen Ledger and lead guitarist Seth Morrison. Skillet has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and has won a Billboard Music Award. Needless to say, the band is highly successful and have remained extremely popular for nearly three decades. Their performance was jam packed with energy and soul.

The show was high production, with huge, flashing screen backdrops and smoke cannons to add to the excitement. Skillet played their most recent single “Unpopular”, which will appear on their upcoming album All That Matters, dropping on November 1. The band also  played some fan favorites such as “Monster” and “Hero”, then triumphantly ended their performance with “The Resistance”, making for a perfect setlist that the fans loved.

Finally, Seether took the stage to finish off the long night of music and fun. Hailing from Pretoria, South Africa, Seether have been making waves since the release of their 2001 debut album Disclaimer. Seether has released seven albums, two of which have gone platinum, and their catchy tunes have been running rampant on many alternative rock stations for over two decades. They kicked off their performance with the track “Gasoline” from their debut album to get the crowd moving.

As frontman Shaun Morgan sang beautifully and played his guitar, the other band members carried out incredible stage presence and had entertaining chemistry on stage. The band was entirely fun to watch and had the crowd moving and jumping throughout the whole show. Seether played their most famous songs such as “Fake It” and “Broken”, then wrapped up their set with the insanely popular track “Remedy” from their 2005 album Karma and Effect.

Seether and Skillet will continue their co-headline tour until Sunday, October 20 with their last stop reaching Minneapolis, Minnesota.
