Rhythm & Chaos: The Velveteers Shake Up White Oak Music Hall

The Velveteers at White Oak Music Hall.

This show was chaotic in the best way. Girl Tones kicked things off with a heavy set that got the crowd moving. Just two members, and they’re sisters, but they made the stage feel huge. Their setlist leaned into the heavier side, which was a cool way to build energy before The Velveteers took over.

Girl Tones opened the night the band is made up of two sisters, and their chemistry was unreal. Their setlist leaned into the heavier side, which was the perfect way to get the crowd pumped before The Velveteers. Songs like “Again” and “Blame” had a thick, fuzzy sound that filled the room. By the end of their set, Girl Tones impressive volume level for a duo completely captivated the audience.

Then, The Velveteers hit the stage, and it was chaos from the first note. They kicked things off with “Motel #27“, and it set the tone, fast, heavy, and completely in-your-face. Demi Demitro’s voice was insane, she is full of raw power. The dual-drum setup made everything hit harder, and you could feel it in your chest.

The setlist kept the energy high with “See Your Face”, “Choking”, and “On And On” back to back, and the crowd fully locked in, headbanging, jumping, and feeding off the energy from the stage.

One of the craziest moments of the night was when Baby, one of the drummers, came into the crowd carrying a drum. Instead of just playing it himself, he had someone from the audience hold onto it while he absolutely went off. It felt spontaneous and wild, and the crowd ate it up. Not long after, Demi jumped into the pit too, getting right in the middle of everyone and making them jump with her. It was impossible to stand still, and the whole venue felt like it was moving.

They kept the energy up all the way to the end, closing things out with “Death Hex.” One of the best things about the night was how personal it felt. After the show, all the bands stuck around by the merch table, signing stuff and talking with fans. No rushing off, just a bunch of musicians hanging out with the people who showed up for them.

The whole night was loud, messy, and ridiculously fun. The Velveteers don’t just play music, they create an experience. If you ever get the chance to see them, go. And be ready to lose your voice.
