Rezz Takes Houston to Another Dimension at 713 Music Hall

On a bitter cold Saturday evening in January, EDM fans from across the Greater Houston area descended on 713 Music Hall. The reason? To catch Canadian DJ/producer Rezz at her first Houston show in nearly four years.

Halfway through her six-date As The Pendulum Swings Tour and fresh off the release of her album of the same name, the 30 year old artist brought the bass to the Bayou City. With a full roster of artists on the bill, fans were in for a treat, with BRVMES, Lumasi, & Blanke each taking the stage to kick off the night and keep the vibes high.

The show kicked off at 8pm, though set times were pushed back to accommodate for some travel issues. Rezz detailed the delay in a post to her Instagram, saying “Landing at the airport in Houston and performing 15 minutes later certainly felt rockstar af… flight issues almost every weekend but this one was by far the closest call. Grateful to have made it and performed.”

To the crowd, there was no evidence of a delay. Each act played on as the venue filled to the brim with excited fans, with Rezz taking the stage in front of a packed house. With strobes and lasers galore, the set was a spectacle to behold. Bathed in red light, Rezz commanded the room from behind a custom riser, surveying the scene from behind her trademark LED goggles.

The energy in the room was high throughout the show, as an ever changing array of visuals danced their way across the massive stage-wide screen. Shifting from abstract colors and shapes to horror-esque graphics to near-organic looking animations, the screen ensured that there was always something new for your eyes to explore during the set.

While we’re not sure when Rezz will return to Houston, her next show will undoubtedly be a must see for electronic fans.
