The Grammy-winning, alternative band, Wet Leg, is back and wetter than ever with their sophomore album moisturizer.
Wet Leg burst onto the scene in 2021 with the release of their debut singles “Chaise Longue” and “Wet Dream,” followed by their 2022 self-titled debut album. They received immediate critical acclaim, winning the Grammy for Best Alternative Album. The impressive start led to opening for Harry Styles’ Love on Tour in Inglewood, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, with Styles even performing his own rendition of Wet Leg’s breakout single, “Wet Dream.” Their self-titled album was an instant favorite among fans, with the band’s distinct, understated vocals and dry sense of humor resonating with listeners around the world.
Now, Wet Leg is back with their sophomore album, moisturizer. The band has expanded from the founding duo Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers to include Ellis Durand, Henry Holmes, and Joshua Mobaraki, bringing in their touring band to become full members. The Isle of Wight five-piece band has a new style and energy, with new songs that seem designed for live performance. The album’s lead single, “Catch These Fists,” is a fun, high energy track that’s already appeared across media, including being the featured song on Austin City Limit’s 2025 announcement video.
Though the album artwork has a creepy, liminal vibe, the album as a whole is focused on love, with the band alternating between flirty and serious approaches to the topic. The opening track, “CPR,” starts with an addictive bass line and silly lyrics, with singer Rhian Teasdale exaggerating her head-over-heels love into a medical emergency. This is contrasted with songs like “davina mccall,” “pond song,” and “11:21,” a sincere love letter to Teasdale’s partner, titled after the day they first met. While this new album is different, it keeps the band’s original DNA and finally delivers a full album after a three year wait.
Wet Leg is still on the rise as the band continues to play festival shows for giant crowds, making new fans with every performance. Frontwoman Rhian Teasdale leaves a lasting impression as she flexes across stages, and the album has received universal critical acclaim. Word of mouth was important to Wet Leg’s initial success, with social media users pitching the band to their friends and followers as “Kim from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World if she had her own band.” And fans are dedicated- even years after release, their first album is still streamed en masse.
