Melanie Martinez is set to showcase all three eras of her music at the Trilogy tour, which began in Seattle on May 10th, 2024.
Melanie Martinez is famously known for her amplified eras in music – from the outstanding well-written debut album Crybaby to the bright narrative album K-12, she is always aiming to surprise fans. With her latest album Portals, she plays around with themes of rebirth and the ideas of life and death, all done perfectly with an new appearance and a new artistic direction. The singer embarked on a Portals tour in 2023, where she performed the album from start to finish, and achieved mass-acclaim as the tour completely sold-out. Now, Melanie Martinez will be performing tracks from all three albums in her first ever arena tour.
The singer most recently released an eclectic video for the track “LIGHT SHOWER,” an intricate art-pop ballad with melancholic undertones about her journey to rediscover herself. The music video shows exactly that, as her persona is a snail following the light that leads her on a trail full of obstacles and discoveries. In the end, her persona swallows the light, which allows her to break out of her shell – something that can be taken into a literal and metaphorical sense. The video further shows her earthly presentation seen throughout the Portals era, a beautiful metaphor representing acceptance.
Like all of her tours to date, Melanie Martinez aims to tell a narrative through stage presence and specific orders of songs. The ‘Trilogy’ tour showcases the evolution of Martinez’s alter-ego, Crybaby, to her current state as, as the singer will be perform classics and hits from all of her three studio albums: Cry Baby, K-12, and Portals. On top of being announced as a performer at multiple festivals this year such as Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, the singer is taking the tour all throughout North America as well as the UK/EU regions.
Indie-pop bands Beach Bunny and Men, I Trust are set to open for Melanie Martinez for the first half of the tour, but other artists like Sofia Isella and Elita will take over the opening slots on later dates. The tour started in Seattle in May 2024, and will conclude in October in Assago, Italy. While most dates are sold-out, tickets are currently on sale for every city in North America and UK/EU, which you can buy here.
Check out the setlist from the Seattle show, which will likely remain the same for the rest of the tour:
I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
