Omar Apollo Plays a Mesmerizing Sold-Out Show in Chicago

Omar Apollo performs at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago.

Last Thursday, (on Cinco De Mayo) twenty four year old singer/songwriter Omar Apollo performed a sold-out show at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.

Omar Apollo, a Mexican-American musician (and killer dancer) made sure his fans got in their feels at his sold out night in Chicago. On May 5th, it was a gloomy day and the line wrapped around the theatre before the doors opened – everyone seemed so excited regardless of the weather. For Omar’s Desvelado Tour, he’s been traveling alongside openers Tora-i and Deb Never. The night began with Tora-i, as she played her last show of the tour with Omar. She had gained a new set of fans during her set, which sounded like absolute magic. Not too long after, the crowd went loud as soon as Deb Never took the stage. Never’s set consisted of jumping and hair flips – hyping up the crowd right before Omar’s set.

As soon as Omar Apollo took the stage, he opened his set with a radiant vibe with his song “Talk” from his latest album Ivory that was released this past April. The vibe of his performance was so radiant and everyone sang along to practically his whole set. While showing off some great dance moves, he performed his most popular singles like “Frío,” “Go Away,” and “Bad Life.” Omar is obviously a Chicago favorite – he even performed 3 additional songs at the end of the set, with his team bringing him a Mexican flag and joining him on stage. Omar Apollo won’t be finished with his tour until June, so there’s still time to see him live if you haven’t had a chance.

I'm based by the Chicagoland area in Illinois. I would describe myself as a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in photo, design and some illustration. I am a recent graduate in Graphic Design and love being involved in the entertainment industry. I love thrifting, visiting galleries/museums, listening to podcasts and going to countless concerts when I can. My very first concert was the Jonas Brothers when I was very little!
