Nothing But Thieves Welcomes Austin’s ACL Moody Theater to the Dead Club City

With the extended version of their album Dead Club City released earlier this year, Nothing But Thieves hit the road again for the second leg of their tour.

With the start time drawing closer, fans at the barricade were asking “Where are they?”, “Are they coming out soon?”, and many were constantly checking the time on their phones, when the lights finally go out and lights start flashing on stage, and out comes the band. With the crowd already screaming and jumping, the band opened up with “Oh No :: He Said What?”, the first track from the deluxe version of Dead Club City that they released in March of this year. The band then played other hits from their albums “Broken Machine”, “Moral Panic”, and even some of their super early stuff.

Lead singer, Conor Mason, talked about how excited they were to be playing in such an iconic venue that night. The band being from Essex, England talked about their time here in Texas, (a fan even waved around a UK flag during this). Conor also gave a huge shoutout to their crew after telling the crowd that their bus had broken down on their way to the show and they had to be in the Texas heat.

The band performed some older hits like “Jam”, “If I Get High”, and “Trip Switch”, and even criticized themselves on how bad they think their older songs are and poked fun at how they used to write songs when they were younger, but of course, the crowd thought differently and sang every lyric till the whole venue echoed. The band also performed “Always, Always”. An unreleased song that was rumored to be cut from the DCC album. Some other iconic NBT hits that were performed were “Tomorrow Is Closed”, “Unperson”, “Impossible”, “Welcome to the DCC”, and more. Their setlist had a total of 19 songs.

The band also performed a cover of “Where Is My Mind?” by Pixies and ended the show afterward with their most popular hit, “Amsterdam”. But of course, the band had to come out to perform encore songs, “I’m Not Made By Design” and “Overcome”, and told the city of Austin, thank you and goodnight.

Hearing Conor Mason’s vocals live is always an amazing experience, along with the whole band’s energy, plus the loud Austin crowd, jumping nonstop, with some still in their Halloween costumes for the weekend. Throughout the crowd, there wasn’t a second where the crowd was singing or jumping. Nothing But Thieves DCC era isn’t done yet as the band’s US tour leg ends, now begins their European leg of the tour in early 2025.

I am a photographer, musician, and cosplayer, based in Austin! I spend a lot of time traveling around for events, and am constantly creating things, listening to music, playing bass guitar, or finding new hobbies to indulge in. I love being surrounded by music, and you can almost always catch me listening to some emo or pop-punk music.
