Motionless in White Withstands the Pouring Rain at Houston’s White Oak Music Hall

Motionless in White performs their final stop of their Dark Horizon Tour in Houston at White Oak Music Hall.

Motionless in White finally returned back to Houston, Texas after having to reschedule their previous date from their 2023 Touring of the End of The World due to unforeseen weather conditions. The preceding tour held a stacked lineup composed of Knocked Loose, Alpha Wolf, and After The Burial. The tour was in support of promoting their album Scoring The End of The World which was released in 2022. Their newest headline shortstop tour for the Dark Horizons 2024 tour included bands such as In This Moment, Mike’s Dead, and Kim Dracula. Luckily enough, Houston was the last stop of the tour making it a monumental moment for the band and fans to end it with the ultimate bang.

In an ill chain of events, the weather for this date was similar to the last time that the band was supposed to perform. Doors were continuously getting pushed multiple times due to the significant heavy rainfall and weather conditions. It was unfortunate that lineup openers, In This Moment and Mike’s Dead had to cancel their set and were not able to perform. This tragically massive change caused many fans to become upset who were waiting all day in the pouring rain to see their favorite band live. However on the bright side, the planets and the fates aligned and Motionless in White was to hit the stage no matter what the consequences or circumstances. The band pushed their limits and announced that they would do whatever it takes to perform despite all of the rain and will actively do anything possible to continue the show.

The enticing entrance of Kim Dracula’s set opening for Motionless in White was a sight to see and was magnetizing to experience in person. The coordination and presence of the band felt like it was composed to be a theatrical show due to their props and facial masks that coincides with the theme of their debut album, “A Gradual Decline in Morale”. Kim Dracula performed popular songs such as “Make me Famous”, “Drown”, and their insanely metalcore produced cover of “Paparazzi” originally performed by Lady Gaga. The stage movements and vocals performed by Kim Dracula were enticingly energetic and striking, earning the band a wavering amount of stunned fans wanting more.

Motionless in White began their set with their killer track, “Meltdown” gathering monstrous screams from fans who were waiting impatiently for the band to get on stage. It was as if lightning struck the crowd by seeing all of their illuminating faces and thunderous energy erupting. The setlist included a range of fan favorite tracks that spanned their entire discography opting for a wider reach of fans from those who followed their journey from the start and to new members of the fanclub. Songs such as “Voices”, “Werewolf”, and “Slaughterhouse” were performed that sent fans into a frenzy.

During the beginning of their set, frontman and vocalist, Chris Motionless cleared the air of the lingering misconceptions of the rumored cancellation of the show but expressed his deepest concerns that the band’s collective effort to push forward was their only purpose. Additionally, he mentioned in between songs that he has toured in Houston long before their debut album, “Creatures” was released, showing his love and affection for the city. As he was making his small speech, he quickly gave a middle finger to the cloudy gray skies as light showers drizzled the outdoor lawn of White Oak Music Hall opting for a humorous moment and inside joke for the fans.

Otherwise, despite the battling confusion amid the fluctuating concert, a wondrous moment occurred during the first 3 songs where a fan proposed to their significant other sending a wave of applause and awe throughout the crowd. Throughout the whole set, fans were crowd surfing, headbanging, and screaming the lyrics from the top of the lungs. Motionless in White’s captivating vitality on stage reflected back on the vibrancy of the rain soaked fans creating a show unlike any others. Needless to say, the final stop of the Dark Horizon tour in Houston was a highly memorable and electrifying concert for both the band and the crowd even with the stormy weather overhead. Motionless in White ended their set with their closing track on the album “Scoring The End of The World” which perfectly encapsulates the ending of the tour and their takeover of the city of Houston.
