Million Dollar Baby Tommy Richman Brings the Coyote Tour To Austin

One of the biggest breakout R&B stars of 2024, Tommy Richman, celebrates the release of his debut album, Coyote, with his first headlining US tour. Austin got to celebrate with the artist last week and hear some of Tommy’s hits live for the first time.

Virginia native Tommy Richman had a crazy run last year after dropping his biggest chart-topping track to date, Million-Dollar Baby, which became an anthem for the summer of 2024. Unfortunately, the track didn’t get as much praise as it may have deserved as it went #1 in the middle of one of the biggest rap beefs in history.

But Tommy didn’t let that from making 2024 his year and dropped another banger shortly after, Devil is Lie, along with his anticipated debut album Coyote. Coming hot off an amazing run of dropping new music, Richman kept the momentum going and announced his solo headlining tour with close friend and frequent collaborator Mynameisntjmack.

The Austin stop of the Coyote Tour was taking place at the beloved Empire Garage, known for booking artists of all genres and sizes. Upon entering the venue you could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air as it was rumored to be Empire’s biggest selling show in the venue’s history. Hitting the stage first was rapper Mynameisntjmack.

Jmack come out with his cool layback style as evident in both his sound and appearance, Jmack didn’t disappoint playing some of his biggest tracks like numbersnshit and Leak. While the artist recognized that Austin isn’t known for their hip-hop scene, the crowd was definitely feeling him, as he “brought some real hip-hop sh-t to Austin”. The audience really showed out for Jmack as they bounced to the beat and and sang along to the lyrics, he really set the vibe and brought great energy for the first part of the show.

After a short and sweet intermission, the artists of the night hit the stage to a completely packed out crowd of fans excited to hear some of their favorite tracks from the Virgina native live for the first time. Known for his punk rock style and incredible vocal range, Tommy Richman didn’t miss a note sounding just as good if not better than he does on record, as he played through his catalog of tracks. He even brought out Jmack to perform their song BUNKER/PREROLL together.

About 30 minutes into his set, Tommy Richman broke into the song that put him on the map, Million Dollar Baby. The crowd went absolutely ballistic as they shouted along to their favorite song of last summer, which unfortunately ended the set. Many in the crowd wanted more from the show as the chanted for an encore for a good 10 minutes after the show ended. While many wanted a longer set from Tommy, he’s now aware of how much love the Texas capital has for him, leaving the audience wanting more and hopefully delivering the the next time he comes to town.

I’m a photographer currently based in Austin after recently relocating from Denver, CO. I graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2019 with a degree in Business Management. I love music of all genres and have been going to live shows since I was 5 years old. Some of my favorite artist currently include Freddie Gibbs, Lola Young, Ivy Lab and Knocked Loose, but that is always subject to change.
