After the successful release of her third album Portals, singer Melanie Martinez started her long-awaited tour in Denver on May 30th.
Melanie Martinez has been a roller coaster since the beginning. She got her start on popular reality show The Voice, where she joined Adam Levine’s team in 2012. She released her first EP called Dollhouse in 2014, followed by her debut album Crybaby in 2015 that featured tracks like “Pity Party” and “Play Date.” She continued the story of the album into her sophomore album K-12, which was accompanied by a movie Martinez directed herself. She took a break from the character she created to work on new things, which resulted in the “burial of Crybaby” in her third album Portals. She debuted a new persona and appearance that adheres to the new album’s main theme of rebirth and moving forward, something fans expect to see in a live format.
The first leg of the North American tour started in Denver, and everyone was in for a surprise. While fans were anticipating a mixture of newer tracks and classic tracks from the first two albums, Martinez is playing the entire Portals album in its entirety.
Melanie Martinez will be bringing the Portals tour to Texas in Mid-June, with stops in Houston, Dallas and Austin. Buy your tickets here.

I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
