Taking over White Oak Music Hall’s Upstairs venue, Madeline The Person took the stage on November 30th for the first sold-out show of her headlining tour. Hailing from Houston, Texas, this homecoming performance was a testament to her rising status as a promising artist, with the intimate setting amplifying the connection between Madeline and her fans.
Kicking off the evening, Houston-native Emma Ogier, a folk and indie-pop singer, warmed up the crowd. Engaging and personable, Emma’s performance resonated with her local roots, drawing in friends and family for a truly loving and comforting experience.
As the spotlight shifted to Madeline, it was evident that she possessed star potential. From her engaging crowd interactions to amazing songwriting skills, Madeline’s talent is poised to elevate her in the music industry.
What struck the audience immediately was the unexpected power of Madeline’s voice. It defied expectations, leaving the fans breathless with its sheer strength. The stage, adorned with the essentials – guitar, piano, drums, and a central mic stand – became a canvas for Madeline’s curated theme. She had specifically chosen different themes for every city on the tour and for this particular show she chose “Flower Power,” which reflected in the crowd’s attire and the artist’s mic stand wrapped with blossoms. She was also wearing an adorable two-piece dress with flowers on it. She made sure to pair it with colorful and artsy accessories and makeup as well as a headband with roses.
Madeline’s attention to detail extended to a custom-made teddy bear with a singular eye named Mr. Man, embodying her unique aesthetic. Throughout the performance, she seamlessly incorporated themes into her music, creating a whimsical atmosphere. A moment that stood out was when she brought all of the members to the front of the stage and played her song “Growing Pains” acoustically while they all wore silly hats and further interacted with the fans.
What truly set Madeline apart was her unwavering engagement with the audience. Gracious and warm, she welcomed gifts, initiated a delightful chant, and playfully tossed her uniquely one-eyed teddy bear into the crowd, a gesture that added an extra layer of joy to the evening. Another good thing to mention is that Madeline handmade most of her merch. She had smaller versions of the one-eyed Mr. Man teddy bear, custom made bracelets and more!
In a musical landscape where some artists lose touch with their fan base, Madeline stands out as a perfect exception. Her willingness to let her personality shine through creates a genuine connection that resonates with her fans. This performance was a testament to her many talents and her commitment to creating an unforgettable experience. If you’re seeking a night filled with whimsy, lots of fun, and an artist on the brink of stardom, Madeline The Person is a must-see performer.
I’m from Houston, TX and when i’m not out shooting events/shows i’m working a 9-5 as an architectural drafter. I love playing guitar, watching movies, tending to my daughter (my cat), etc. I’ve been attending concerts since I was 14 and it’s been such a dream to be able to photograph some of my favorite artists. I absolutely love this niche and i’m looking forward to my continued growth!
