Lunar Vacation Has Their Eyes Set on “Only You”

Lunar Vacation surprised fans with their new single “Only You,” which was released on Valentine’s Day.

Atlanta based indie rock group Lunar Vacation fronted by vocalist Grace Repasky (vocals/guitar), Maggie Geeslin (guitar) , Matteo De Lurgio (keys), and Connor Dowd (drums) formed in 2016 because of their love and bond for music.

Lunar Vacation’s career first began when their first EP, Swell, was released in 2017 and features 5 tracks with fan favorites such as “Blue Honey” and “Swimming”. Following the success and high admiration from Swell, the band’s second EP, Artificial Flavors followed a year later in 2018 with their popular lead single, “The Basement” that has now reached over 7 million streams on Spotify.

Lunar Vacation has since then released their long awaited first debut album, Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp in 2021 through Keeled Scales and produced by Daniel Gleason of Indie/Alternative band, Grouplove. The record was a cultivation of their soft indie rock sound paired with dreamy instrumentation, catchiest melodies and lyrics that serve as a reflection of their emotions and experiences. Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp exceeded expectations as it shows the progression of the band’s sound, production, and further exploration of their well known pool-rock signature influences.

The band recently announced their new single, “Only You” featuring a brand new music video on a beautiful and lovely Valentine’s day.

“Only You” is a melancholy love letter that focuses on escaping home and in search of an adventure and finding something extraordinary from being stuck in a lonely routine. By guarding your heart and protecting peace for an endless amount of time, it becomes a lonesome yet comforting feeling, “Never wanted to hold or be held, You’d just avoid it and jet”.

The riffy acoustic hazy and dreamy guitar driven track gently builds up creating a light and airy atmosphere. Throughout the track, Repasky’s layered entrancing vocals make an appearance, allocating the heavy burden feeling of being in a somber and wistful state of mind. The inclusion of a surf rock guitar instrumentation in the middle of the song seamlessly layers against the jazzy drums and sublime bass for a chance to sway your head along to and disappear off into another world. The track possesses all of the highly admirable sound qualities and the reason on what makes Lunar Vacation such a beloved indie pop and shoegaze band.
