Crumb Charms White Oak Music Hall in Houston While on Their ‘AMAMA’ Tour.

After the release of their newest album, AMAMA, indie band Crumb set off on a thirty-stop tour all over the United States and Canada. Towards the last bit of their tour, Crumb blessed Houston with a beautiful show on October 12th at White Oak Music Hall.

Opening for Crumb was alternative singer/ songwriter, Vagabon. As soon as she walked out, the lights were set to deep tones, giving a dreamy atmosphere. Not only was the setting soothing, but her music was as well. Vagabon’s soft vocals and calming tunes, on top of the lighting, elevated the mood of the crowd, leaving them joyful and ready to see the next performance.

Keeping the same vibe as the act before them, Crumb stepped onto the stage with a warm, chill presence. After the band got situated and the crowd started to settle down after giving them a cheerful welcome, Crumb began with “AMAMA,” “Cracking” and “(Alone In) Brussels.” In the background, tiles shifting between two sides illuminated the room. On one side of the tiles were patterns that together created a colorful setting, on the opposite side were mirrors that creatively reflected the overhead lighting. The overall mood of the show was both bright and incredibly alluring, creating a unique setting that only they could emulate.

As the show continued, the band performed songs from all throughout their discography. This included many from their 2021 album, Ice Melt, a few from their 2019 album, Jinx, and of course songs from their latest project, AMAMA. Each song was accompanied by a singing audience, and followed by long applause.

From start to finish, Crumb expressed their gratitude to Houston for showing up, while the crowd returned the love throughout the entire show. It was a truly special night for the city, and although they just left, we can’t wait to welcome them back.

I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
