Opener Jake Wesley Rogers joins headliner Kesha at The Factory in Dallas.
This past weekend, pop star Kesha kicked off the ‘Only Love’ tour at The Factory in Dallas, Texas. Kesha’s fans, who call themselves her “Animals”, waited outside of the venue for hours in order to get an up close and personal view of the performer. When the doors finally opened, the fans excitedly rushed in to secure a spot close to the barricade.
Upon entering The Factory, Kesha’s merch stand was stocked up with colorful t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, and more. Several of the “Animals” wore unique outfits, which often incorporated vibrant hair and glittery makeup to pay homage to some of Kesha’s iconic looks.
The opener for the show was Jake Wesley Rogers, a pop singer-songwriter from Missouri. Over the past few years, Jake Wesley Rogers has released a series of singles and EPs. They have accumulated more than a quarter of a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and their most streamed track is “I’ll Stand by You.” Jake was accompanied on stage by their keyboardist, and wore a metallic top, pants, and coat paired with white glasses. Their set design was eye-catching, and included a dining table and a multi-colored window in the backdrop. Jake opened with their song “Middle of Love”, and closed with their song “Pluto.” During their set, Jake emphasized how much Kesha was a role model to them while growing up. Despite some technical issues, Jake Wesley Rogers delivered an engaging performance with stunning vocals.
As 9 o’clock rolled around, it was time for the headliner Kesha to take the stage. Kesha is a pop singer-songwriter from California, and she has dominated the music scene for more than a decade. She has almost 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and her biggest hit “TiK ToK” has garnered more than a billion streams. Over the years Kesha has released six albums, with her latest release being Gag Order. Kesha started off her set with her single “Only Love Can Save Us Now”, and wore an all-black leather outfit. She was then joined on stage by her two backup dancers, and performed “TiK ToK” and “Cannibal.”
While singing her hit “Take It Off”, Kesha encouraged the crowd to throw their clothes onto the stage. Next, Kesha had a quick wardrobe change, and she reappeared in a flowing all-white outfit. She performed her emotional track “Eat the Acid”, which was followed by a cover of “Till the World Ends”, which she wrote for Britney Spears. Later on in the set, Kesha put on a cowboy hat and sang and danced along to “Timber” and “Your Love Is My Drug”. During “Die Young”, she got off the stage and interacted with the thrilled fans in the crowd. For her encore, Kesha performed “Praying” while white curtains on the stage flowed up and down, and closed the night with “We R Who We R”. Overall, the first night of the ‘Only Love’ tour was filled with hit songs, fun choreography, and memorable moments.
Kesha will be touring across North America, and will end the tour in Wheatland, CA on November 26th. For more details, check out her website here.
