Just Like Heaven Fest Returns to Southern California this May

Get a taste of heaven this summer with legendary performances from artists at Just Like Heaven Fest taking place in Southern California on Saturday May 21st.

The first inaugural Just Like Heaven Festival took place in Long Beach in 2018. This year, the Just Like Heaven Fest is taking place at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, and it features a lineup of artists from all around the world that had significant presence in the early 2000s indie and alternative music scene, catering to an older but still fun crowd of music lovers. Want to see who we’re most excited about? Here are a couple of artists to check out that will be performing at this year’s Just Like Heaven Fest.

Wolf ParaDe

Hailing from the streets of Montreal, Canada – this indie rock band will be performing their debut album Apologies to the Queen Mary in full. They released their fifth album Thin Mind  in 2020, and are known for having toured with artists such as Arcade Fire and (JLH performers) Modest Mouse.

M.I.A

British rapper/singer Maya Arulpragasan, who goes by her stage name M.I.A., has received critical acclaim for her music, which combines hip hop and electronic elements. She’s best known for her hit single “Paper Planes” from her successful sophomore album Kala. M.I.A is slowly making her return to music as she’s set to release her sixth studio album MATA soon.

The Hives

This Swedish band was formed in the early 90s and received mainstream success with their second studio album, Veni Vidi Vicious, with hit songs like “Hate to Say I Told You So.” They released a number of albums since then, including their first live album in 2020 via Third Man Records. The Hives are notorious for their revival of the garage rock genre, definitely a worthy act to see at Just Like Heaven.

Bloc Party

Bloc Party is a rock band from England that consists of  members Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Justin Harris and Louise Bartle. They are best known for their debut album Silent Alarm, which contains numerous hits like “Banquet,” “Helicopter” and “Like Eating Glass.” After releasing more albums like Four and Hymns, their sixth studio album Alpha Games was released in April 2022. Besides Bloc Party’s performance, lead Singer Kele is also set to perform a DJ set of his own at the festival.

Santigold

Santigold is an American singer/songwriter from Philadelphia. An entertainment powerhouse, she’s received critical acclaim on multiple media outlets, collaborated and toured with many huge artists, and has even been featured on big films and television shows. To date, she has three studio albums with a fourth on the way, as well as two mixtapes and multiple features with artists like Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, Matt and Kim, and Diplo.
