Alternative pop duo Joan welcomed fans to a special album release party at New York’s Electric Bowery.
Joan took the stage Tuesday night at Bowery Electric in New York City to celebrate the release of their new album, This Won’t Last Forever. This alternative pop duo, made up of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford, released their first EP back in 2019 and have since released five more, including their latest record, which dropped September 24.

Before getting into the set, the band shared the story behind the album. Thomas described it as a “huge labor of love”, noting that the pair did all of their writing and production entirely from their studio in Arkansas. The concept for the newest album was born after the band returned from touring with their last EP, Superglue. Rutherford shared that they were navigating some personal hardships at the time. The idea that every moment, good or bad, is fleeting was grounding for him. “Hopefully you listen to this album and it reminds you to take advantage of the moments you have”.

The stripped-down set opened with the album’s title track, This Won’t Last Forever, followed by Space and a fan favorite, Alibi. The performance offered a unique and intimate first listen to their new material alongside familiar favorites.

After concluding the set, Joan played the new album’s record in full, entering the crowd to mingle and celebrate alongside fans. The night felt less like a typical concert and more like a heartfelt celebration where the band and their fans came together to honor a milestone in the band’s journey.
Fans can now stream, This Won’t Last Forever, on all major platforms.
