Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra visited Houston, Texas on their co-headlining The Amplified Echoes Tour.
Hailing from Mesa, Arizona, Jimmy Eat World is a mid-90s and early 2000s alternative rock music staple, with their 2001 album Bleed American breaking them into the mainstream. The band is still putting out music, with their latest single “Telepath” being released June 8, 2023. Jimmy Eat World’s co-headliner, Manchester Orchestra, is a notable name in indie rock music. The band from Atlanta, Georgia has released several albums between 2006 and 2021, as well as the single “Table for Glasses”, released the same date as Jimmy Eat World’s “Telepath”.
The two bands visited 713 Music Hall with opener Middle Kids, an indie rock group from Sydney, Australia. The three-piece band put on a charming display of immersive songs to kick off a great night for the audience.
After a brief intermission, Manchester Orchestra took the stage. The band opened their set with the song “Pride” from their 2009 album Mean Everything To Nothing. Bright, flashing lights lit the stage as the band devotedly played their instruments throughout the entire show. They had a captivating stage presence, making it impossible for the crowd to turn their attention away. The band played thirteen of their songs, closing with the hit track “The Silence” from their 2017 album A Black Mile To The Surface. Manchester Orchestra’s performance was loud, entertaining and explosive, keeping the audience hooked throughout its entirety.
Jimmy Eat World took the stage following Manchester Orchestra, opening with the track “Congratulations” from their 2019 album Surviving. Following was the song “Bleed American”, the title track from their 2001 album and one of the band’s most notable tunes. The members were highly energetic throughout the entire show, with frontman Jim Adkins singing flawlessly and even occasionally interacting with the audience in between songs. Jimmy Eat World played seventeen songs, including their catchy hit single “The Middle” from the album Bleed American as their final song of the night. The band put on an impressive and entertaining performance, ensuring that the audience left feeling astonished.
The Amplified Echoes tour will continue until August 26, with the last stop being in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
