Nashville alt-pop artist BIZZY releases her bright new single titled “I Really Like This Part,” and gives Off Record the inside scoop on the songwriting process.
BIZZY is a Nashville-based, alt-pop singer-songwriter who captures the messiness of love and relationships. From her breakout single “Anybody,” about falling in love again and again, to her new single “I Really Like This Part,” about the excitement and joy of a new connection. She alternates between, fun, petty tracks like “Hotter Than Your Ex,” with more reflective songs like “Spinach In My Teeth.”
“I Really Like This Part” wastes no time catching listeners with its effortlessly catchy pop melodies. The song’s bright hooks are laid over a contemporary production style to create an upbeat and feel-good vibe. The song is a quintessential BIZZY track, who has an innate ability to create fun, accessible pop anthems that stick way past the last note.
BIZZY just finished supporting Rachel Chinouriri’s North American Tour, playing for her biggest crowds yet. Now, she’s focused on releasing new music.

ORB: What is it about love that makes you keep coming back to it in your songs?
BIZZY: Honestly, good question. I’ve thought about this a lot and it’s because love is engraved in everything. Whether it’s friendships, or relationships, or just a business relationship. It really all comes back to love, and I think it fascinates me – you can never run out of things to say about it.
ORB: Who are your musical inspirations that might not seem obvious at first?
BIZZY: Ah so many! I am a huge fan of Julia Michaels. Her songwriting has always been so inspiring, and how smart she is with her lyrics. Also a big fan of Rainbow Kitten Surprise and how off-kilter/ unique everything they do is. And obviously Taylor Swift, she has been an inspiration since day one.
ORB: How do you approach songwriting differently for others vs. yourself?
BIZZY: For me, when I go into the songwriting process, it’s a complete journal entry. I try to go in as vulnerable as possible and just write what I feel and follow that. When I’m writing for others, it’s a totally different ball game. I am shape shifting into them and their perspective, and trying to walk in their shoes. Both are so fun, but so very different.
ORB: Walk us through the process of writing / producing your latest single “I Really Like This Part”!
BIZZY: Eeekkk! Ok, so I wrote the song with Brett Truit and Spencer Jordan. I wrote the first verse the night before. At the time I was in a new relationship and had just been dropped off after a date. I was all giddy. The next day I brought the verse into the session, and they loved the vibe. I filled them in on where my head was at (which basically just turned into like a two hour therapy session), and then we wrote the song.
I produced it with Brett Truit and Ian Walsh. Both are just such insane talents. Ian was able to bring a fresh perspective to a demo that I’d listened to a million times before, he really helped bring life to it.
ORB: How do you pace yourself when it comes to releasing new singles, and how do you get your songs out there as a pop artist in the scene right now?
BIZZY: Pace has been something I’ve been working on. Sometimes I’ve felt too slow, sometimes too fast. I think finding that sweet spot was just figuring out how I can write and produce songs in a timeframe where I don’t feel rushed, but also I’m not dragging. As far as getting my songs out, Instagram and TikTok have been a huge help in reaching new fans, as well as the tour with Rachel Chinouriri I just got off of!
ORB: You recently just went on a huge tour with Rachel Chinouriri! What are some of your most memorable moments from the tour?
BIZZY: Ahhhh yes, what a dream that was!! Literally so hard to choose, because that whole tour was just incredible. One of my favorite parts was getting to meet all the fans, and making new ones! Seeing the music I’ve been working on over the years come to life and actually experiencing it with the crowd is unlike anything else. I also loved the little moments, like getting ready before the shows. Because it was an all girls line up, it just felt like one big pre-game. We would all be running around backstage borrowing flat irons and makeup and listening to music. It was the best!
ORB: If you were to curate your own festival… what does that look like? What artists would you host, who would headline? Any special activations?
BIZZY: Holy crap, I love this question. Omg my dream line up would be Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Queen, Role Model, Weezer, Julia Michaels, Oston, Sabrina Carpenter, Rachel Chinouriri, and Ber. I don’t even know if I’d wanna play that festival cus I’d just want to sit and watch all day long!
ORB: Anything else you want our readers to know?
BIZZY: New music is coming, and I cant freakin wait for you guys to hear it!!!
