Inaugural ‘Dark Ceremony’ Festival to Take Place at Houston’s White Oak Music Hall

Dark Ceremony is Houston’s first dark-wave music festival, which will take place at the beloved White Oak Music Hall.

Dark Ceremony is the Inaugural festival happening in Houston that perfectly brings together innovative acts from the timeless classic post-punk era of music. From newer acts reviving the genre to those who serve as founders and pioneers of the genre, the Dark Ceremony Festival aims to celebrate the legacy modern synth-pop, dark-wave, post-punk and everything in between. This festival is unlike no other festival Houston has ever seen, as it includes an eclectic mix of artists that will create a vivid and captivating atmosphere that everyone needs to experience at least once in their lives.

Brownsville-based duo Twin Tribes is scheduled to headline the festival, who also most recently reached a million views on their video for their latest single “Monolith.” The band last performed in Houston back in November of 2023 at White Oak Music Hall, but have also performed at events around Texas such as South By Southwest. Twin Tribes is no stranger to the gothic music scene, as their revival of post-wave blends and synth-punk took a huge turn that gained them recognition. The Chameleons, a dark-wave band from the 1980s associated with bands like The Mission and Echo & the Bunnymen, will also take the stage to perform their third album Strange Times in its entirety. The band, led by Mark Burgess, is shown to have an incredible stage presence and shimmering tones that resonate with audiences – whether you are an OG fan or a newer fan strolling by.

Other performers include Austin-natives and dark-electro new wave trio Urban Heat, who are on the rise and have toured with acts like Vision Video and made appearances at festivals like Austin City Limits and Cruel World Fest. The lineup also includes the likings of post-wave and synth-pop groups like Haunt Me, Autumn, Clan of Xymox, and many more.

The Dark Ceremony Festival is set to take place in both the Upstairs and Downstairs rooms of the venue on Saturday, June 15th. Tickets are on sale now, you can purchase yours here.

I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
