Bright Eyes, a Nebraska-based indie rock band, brings an indelible night of raw emotion and rhythm to The Factory in Deep Ellum.
With the weather in Texas growing more amiable and warm, the streets of Dallas were hustling and bustling with people ready to enjoy a Friday night out. As the sunlight gave way to the building lights and neon signs across Deep Ellum, it illuminated the faces of the excited early birds, waiting for the doors to The Factory to open.
As the venue finally welcomed its eager guests in, the energy inside the building quickly felt quite joyful and exciting as friends, families, and music lovers surrounded the stage and awaited for the concert to begin.
When the venue playlist music over the speakers ceased to be heard, a wave of cheers and elation moved across the room to welcome Bright Eyes’ opener, Hurray for the Riff Raff.
Formed in 2007 in the exciting city of New Orleans, Alynda Segarra leads the indie-folk style to the stage to prepare and serenade the audience with a mix of twangy rhythms, evident guitar riffs, and pleasing vocals. Hurray for the Riff Raff was the perfect band to get the crowd ready for a night of impressive music, as Segarra and her band left the audience begging for more after each song that had its own unique style, completely different from each previous track played. As Hurray for the Riff Raff finished up their set, it was easily noted that the venue had quickly filled up with more and more fans eager for the headliner to take the stage, but also cherishing the last few moments of an unforgettable opener.

Before Bright Eyes made their way on stage, an announcement was made over the speakers with lead singer, Conor Oberst, asking the crowd to donate to their Poison Oak Project. The Poison Oak Project is dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, specifically the transgender community, to help provide those with adequate resources and care. After Conor’s encouraging and hopeful announcement, Bright Eyes slowly, one by one, took to the stage.
Forming in the late 90s in Omaha, Nebraska, Bright Eyes consists of lead singer and guitarist Connor Oberst, talented instrumentalist Mike Mogis, and piano/trumpet player Nate Walcott. Known for their melancholic folk-inspired album, I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning, Bright Eyes made a name for themselves through their unique style of musical artistry, accompanied with their kickstart as an opener on Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M’s tour in 2004.

I am currently attending the University of North Texas with a photojournalism major. I love going to concerts of all genres, whether I am stage diving or headbanging, I never miss an opportunity to appreciate live music. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting for CD's and records, spending time with my cats, going to art exhibits, and traveling (especially to NYC). My biggest inspiration is Danny Clinch, and one day I aspire to open up my own gallery to showcase my work!
