Hobo Johnson and Remo Drive stunned the Houston crowd at House of Blues Houston on the Hobo Johnson and the Lovemakers, HJ Drinks tour. Fans were delighted to hear the live performances of songs off of Johnson’s latest EPs.
The House of Blues was packed in anticipation of Johnson’s Houston show. First, alt-rock band Remo Drive came on stage. The band had a smokeshow performance, with fans clearly enjoying the band’s amazing vocals. Erick and Stephen Paulson took over the stage with their clear passion for their music and put on a memorable performance. If you are a fan of grungy pop-punk, I would highly recommend checking out their latest album Mercy, or better yet, check out a live show. It is definitely worth it.
Next, Johnson came on stage with his signature high energy. Fans cheered and were ready to experience his set live. He began his set with “Mover Awayer,” he rocked the crowd reaching into it and making sure everyone felt the same enthusiasm for his music as he did. After he ended his set he greeted the crowd, thanking them for joining him on tour. He remarked about his previous show in Austin the night before, and how excited he was to be playing in Houston. Next, he transitioned into “Romeo & Juliet.” The crowd screamed-sung along to this song with lots of passion. They ate up Johnson’s exciting performance with no crumbs to spare.
Afterwards he took a minute to talk about his Geek Bar, hitting it on stage, and remarking on how the smoke of the vape must be the stage smoke. It was truly iconic, and a very funny monologue, with the crowd laughing along. Afterwards he sang “Subaru Crosstrek XV,” in which he sprayed his water bottle into the crowd.
He ended his set with the famous “Peach Scone.” The crowd knew every word to it, and practically sang it for Johnson. After a quick break, Johnson came back onstage for his encore with a big smile on his face. He sang “Typical Story” to wrap up the set before he left the stage.
Overall, Johnson worked to make this night memorable for all of the fans attending. He constantly checked in, and personalized it for the Houston crowd. Check him out on his current tour before tickets sell out.
