Gabby Barrett Plays a Sold Out Show at the Iconic Georgia Theatre

Last Friday, the twenty-two year old country-pop sensation Gabby Barrett performed a sold-out show at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia.

Gabby Barrett got her stardom from her television debut on American Idol’s 16th season. After placing third, she set out to keep creating music of her own. Her first single, “I Hope,” released in 2020, topped the Hot Country Songs for over twenty weeks. Ever since then, she has been on the climb. Her latest album Goldmine (Deluxe) was released in 2021, making Gabby Barrett a household name in the country music community.

On April 29, Barrett played at the Georgia Theater in downtown Athens. The streets were flocked with fans who were decked out head-to-toe in country attire. Before Gabby went on stage, King Calaway, an American-Gibraltaian country band, kicked on their country boots and rallied the crowd. Formed back in 2018, this band has been on the rise and has been playing shows all around the United States. Their latest EP, Midnight, was released in 2021, and their newly released single, “Good Time to Me” (feat Lainey Wilson) was released earlier this year. They played some of their greatest hits like “World For Two,” and “I Do,” as well as songs from their last album.

After King Calaway’s set, it was time for Gabby Barrett to hit the stage. Barrett wore sleek, black leather pants, a bedazzled cowboy t-shirt, a jean vest, and stylized cow print boots. She opened up her performance with one of her top singles, “The Good Ones,” and the crowd went crazy. Gabby also went on to cover a few songs, such as Dolly Parton’s hit, “Jolene,” Miranda Lambert’s “Little Red Wagon,” and slowed down the night with a few Christian worship songs. During her encore, Gabby ascended back on stage with an updated look accompanied with a beautiful and long, transparent jacket. She closed out the night with two more songs from her album. Gabby Barrett will continue her tour until the end of the summer and will play all around the United States. If you have the chance to see her live, it is not an opportunity you would want to pass up.
