Fuerza Regida’s Pero No Te Enamores tour kicked off their back-to-back concerts in Dallas with an energetic performance in front of 20,000 fans at Dos Equis Pavilion.
To kick off the night, DJ Malechin warmed the crowd with a diverse set, featuring genres from trap to mariachi and Regional Mexican. Soon after, the lights dimmed and you hear the infamous guitar riff from “Que Onda”’ a collaboration between Fuerza Regida, Chino Pacas, and Calle 24. Suddenly every phone is out and the crowd is showering the groupo with applause and excitement. JOP, dressed in a white Louis vuitton tee with the words LOVERS across the chest was an ironic choice for the title of the tour Pero No Te Enamores, which translates to but don’t fall in love.
The set list featured foundational hits such as “Igualito a mi apa,” “Ch y la pizza,” and “Dijeron Que No La Iba Lograr.” They also included tracks from their 2023 album Pa Las Baby’s Y Belikeada, like “TU NAME,” “BRILLAROS,” and “SABOR FRESA,” many of which have gained significant popularity on TikTok. And of course performing their first song to reach the Billboard Hot 100 “Bebe Dame,” a cumbia with a Mexican twist.
Fuerza Regida blends the traditional regional Mexican sound with the urban culture of South Central Los Angeles. At the inception of Fuerza Regida, meaning “strength,” in 2015 they initially intended to cover their favorite songs. Starting with local parties, they swiftly transitioned to crafting their own music. Through diligent effort over the years, their fan base expanded steadily. Jesús Ortiz Paz, also known as JOP, mentions early on in the show to the crowd his first show was in Dallas, Texas Fast forward 7 years later they are playing two nights back to back at Dos Equis Pavilion.
Thanks to artists like Fuerza Regida, Peso Pluma (who was playing the same night at the American Airlines Center), Junior H, Grupo Frontera, Natanael Cano and Eslabón Armado, Mexican Regional music has exploded in popularity over the last few years. They’ve been breaking records and blowing up the airwaves, music streamers and TikTok.
