Finneas Had an Electrifying Performance in Minneapolis

Finneas and his band just began their North American leg of the For Cryin’ Out Loud tour, showcasing his newest album titled as such. This was Finneas’ first headline show in Minneapolis, which he mentioned to the crowd.

Finneas opened the show with the song that opens his album, Starfucker. This opening differed from what you normally see at the start of shows. Artists typically open with a high-energy or fun song to get the crowd hyped. However, the singer took a different approach. Walking on stage, he went straight to the piano to play the ballad. Between Finneas’ beautiful voice and playing and the crowd softly and passionately singing along, it was a lovely way to start the show.

The band then went into some more of their more upbeat songs such as Lotus Eater and Cleats. The indie/alternative pop artist also had a good amount of crowd work sprinkled in. Some fans brought signs which he was eager to read. One said, “Please take the doll I made of you”, leading to the fan throwing the doll to Finneas to catch. The doll looked just like him! It was a nice comedic break in the setlist for him and his fans to connect.

One of my favorite songs off the album For Cryin’ Out Loud is Family Feud. This is a song Finneas dedicated to his superstar sister, Billie Eilish, who he also produces and writes with. It’s a beautiful song about how they’re lives changed because of something they were passionate about and how proud he is of her in all of her success and overcomings. The crowd was letting out “aw’s” throughout the wholesome song.

To close out the show, Finneas did some covers from artists Ashe and The Zombies for some variety and then ended with his album’s namesake song, For Cryin’ Out Loud. The songs high-energy and upbeat tempo was a great way to end an incredible show, leaving the fans feeling more than satisfied. If Finneas is touring at a city near you, I’d grab some tickets (if you still can!)
