Echo & The Bunnymen Brought a Mysterious Yet Captivating Set to Dallas

Liverpool native post-wave band, Echo & The Bunnymen play a packed House of Blues, giving fans an otherworldly experience of alternative rock.

The line outside quickly began to rush inside as the clock struck 7pm and the doors to the House of Blues opened for excited concertgoers to find their seats or rush to the best spots in general admission. Before the blink of an eye, another line grew behind the awaited merchandise so fans could commemorate the night with a poster or shirt. While the crowd anticipated for the opener to make an appearance, the stagehands began tuning the guitars and preparing for the first gig of the night.

The audience cheered as the openers took the stage and created an alternative rock style sound to begin the evening. Black Tie Dynasty, from Fort Worth, Texas, is an indie rock new-wave style band that formed in 2004. The group consists of Eddie Thomas on drums, Cory Watson with lead vocals, Blake McWhorter on the bass, and Brian McCorquodale as the keyboardist. Together they formed together at the House of Blues to successfully create upbeat and complex sounds that transcended the audience to another world of music.

After Black Tie Dynasty finished up their set, it did not take long for the lights to dim in the music hall and the crowd to cheer with excitement. As Echo & The Bunnymen took the stage, a wave of applause took over the venue and the band began to bring the crowd a neo psychedelic rock sound that filled the room. Forming in 1978 in Liverpool, England, Echo & The Bunnymen began with Ian McCulloch as the lead vocalist and Les Pattinson on the bass. Although Echo & The Bunnymen has been playing music for over 4 decades, their live performance was able to mimic the quality and talent of their studio recordings which made the experience for fans even more memorable.

The set eventually came to an end and fans left the venue with an unforgettable performance, and Echo & The Bunnymen have plenty of shows left on their North American 2024 tour, traveling across the states, stopping in Chicago, Boston, Denver, and plenty of other cities across the U.S.

I am currently attending the University of North Texas with a photojournalism major. I love going to concerts of all genres, whether I am stage diving or headbanging, I never miss an opportunity to appreciate live music. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting for CD's and records, spending time with my cats, going to art exhibits, and traveling (especially to NYC). My biggest inspiration is Danny Clinch, and one day I aspire to open up my own gallery to showcase my work!
