Duster Turns Houston “Inside Out” at White Oak Music Hall

On November 6, 2024, Duster and Dirty Art Club stopped by Houston while on their Fall tour. The beloved indie rock band from California rocked White Oak Music Hall, leaving fans absolutely buzzing.

Kicking off the show at 8 PM was electronic artist Matt Cagle, better known as Dirty Art Club. Cagle took the stage in a calm matter, setting the vibe for his set. As he played soft beats for the crowd, colorful videos of cosmic backgrounds was played over him, creating a nice ambience for the crowd.

Next up was Duster around 9:15 PM. Right from the jump, Houston proved to the band that they were ready to rock. From loud cheers to rock signs displayed on hands, the performance started on a high note as songs such as “The Twins/ Romantica,” “Making Room,” “Chocolate and Mint” and “Inside Out” were played.

Since 1996, Duster has been changing the shoegaze/ indie rock landscape with releases like Stratosphere and Transmission Flux, and more recently, Duster and In Dreams. The group took a break from releasing music in 2000, but have made up for lost time with regular releases since 2019.

With a setlist full of songs throughout their discography, many fans were able to hear their favorites while also being exposed to tunes they hadn’t heard before. In between songs, the band took the time to thank everyone for coming out as well as checking up on the crowd. While they played, the band’s energy and stage presence heavily engaged the audience, providing a transportive experience for Houston.

Duster will be on tour until the end of November with tour dates from Colorado to California. If you get the chance to catch them, you won’t be disappointed. Keep up with their tour here!

I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
