Indie bands Dreamgirl and Beauty Queen performed at the Constellation Room in the West Coast, as they are currently touring across North America.
Last week, Kansas City based band, Dreamgirl, performed an intimate concert for local SoCal fans at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana. Opening for them was Beauty Queen. The opening act was led by singer and songwriter Katie Kai. Kai’s origins in Maui, Hawaii were represented in her music as their set included songs fit for indie pop fans as well as those looking for tunes to road trip to the beach with. The artist even announced that one of their singles found success with being featured in the Netflix original series, Never Have I Ever. Off Record Blog got a chance to snap some photos of Kai after the concert.
Next up – Dreamgirl. After some technical difficulties, the Missouri based musicians started their set. After thanking the crowd for their patience they proceeded to perform hits such as “All U Wanna Do Is Dance” and “Sometimes.” The audience got a look at a good amount of unreleased singles as well that the band decided to play amongst their known songs. The unique high pitched vocals of the lead singer accompanied by the back up vocals of one of their guitarists and the instruments of the other musicians made for a set of dreamy indie-pop bangers. The limited space of the venue made for an intimate live music experience that allowed for the band to interact with their fans frequently throughout the show. The artists even shared stories of past visits they’ve made to this exact venue and the personal journeys their band has gone on.
