Dream Noise: Spun Out plays record release show at The Empty Bottle in Chicago

Chicago natives Spun Out salute their new record with an unforgettable show, joined by the talented Tension Pets and Finesse.

To celebrate their latest record, Dream Noise, Spun Out were joined by two bands for a memorable night of Chicago music. Fans from all over the city gathered to support this event. Kicking off the evening, the 80s pop duo Finesse brought an incredible amount of vibrancy. Hailing from Minneapolis, Patrick Donohoe and Jeff Cornell transformed the Empty Bottle into a vibrant nightclub filled with the sounds of the 80s.

It’s hard to believe this duo was formed in 2020, as they capture the era’s vibe perfectly. There’s no doubt that Finesse is passionate about the era and knows how to replicate its distinctive sound. Patrick and Jeff work seamlessly together, playing music that flows effortlessly as the crowd dances with smiles around. Their fun tunes are hard to resist! The band introduces the audience with tracks from their February 2024 record, Stay True, alongside other fan favorites.

As the lights fade to blue and PBR beers crack open, the synth-punk band Tension Pets takes the stage. The band consists of musicians who are also members of groups such as The Hecks, Christmas Bride, and Pussy Foot. The high-energy group exudes confidence and starts their set with a bang. The vocals, sung by Davey Hart, are complemented by synth player Jeff Graupner, and their chemistry is hard to ignore. Tension Pets blares their unique sound through the venue’s speakers, headbanging in unison as they sing their hearts out.

They carve out a memorable experience, fulfilling the anticipation of the night. A lively mosh pit forms in the center, with enthusiastic fans joyfully jumping and engaging with the music. The vocals, delivered by Davey Hart, are complemented by the synth melodies of Jeff Graupner, showcasing their impressive chemistry. Their performance is both engaging and memorable, contributing to a highly anticipated evening.

As the venue filled with loud shouts and applause, Spun Out took the stage, and the energy in the air was palpable. Their new record, Dream Noise, began to play, and it felt like the crowd was collectively igniting with delirium. The psychedelic rock band from Chicago, dressed in their cool-boy fashion, truly set the night on fire. The five talented members of the band created a mesmerizing soundscape, enhanced by vibrant green and purple lights flashing over the audience. Initially, the crowd seemed a bit shy and quiet, but as the performance continued, you could sense them warming up and connecting with the music.

Mikey Wells, the lead singer and guitarist, delivered striking vocals that enveloped the venue in a captivating, trippy energy, fully supported by his gifted bandmates. When they played fan favorites like “Fishing” and “Paranoia,” the crowd erupted in joyful shouts, reflecting a shared sense of delight and appreciation. It’s heartening to see how many of us are passionate about this new record, myself included, and it was a real treat to experience it live together.

Spun Out truly created a memorable night for the Chicago music scene, showcasing their remarkable work. I could feel the excitement in the air for their future projects, knowing that everyone in attendance was equally eager for what lies ahead.
