Currently on the People in Motion North American Tour, Sloan Struble, also known as Dayglow, performs immaculate sets in Houston and Dallas with special guests Ritt Momney.
DALLAS
On October 28, Dayglow jumpstarted the Halloween weekend by performing at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas. Sloan Struble, the frontman of Dayglow, stated that he grew up going to shows at South Side Ballroom and that it was a dream venue for him. Despite the pouring rain outside, the venue was packed with ecstatic fans. Indie band Ritt Momney kicked off the show with a captivating and energetic set. The band performed a handful of original songs, and a cover of their viral hit “Put Your Records On”. Dayglow took the stage next, and were accompanied by their colorful and retro visuals. The band played a mixture of fan favorite songs from their debut album Fuzzybrain, their follow up Harmony House, and their latest release People In Motion. Dayglow also incorporated a cover into their set, and gave a groovy performance of “Funkytown”. Overall, it was clear that Struble was delighted to be performing in his home state of Texas, and it showed in his interactions with his bandmates and audience.
HOUSTON
The following day, the band headed down to Houston’s House of Blues, where fans were eagerly waiting for their performance wearing a range of Halloween costumes. Struble came out with excitement to play for everyone, and started off the night with “Radio” from his album People in Motion. The entire room was filled with color and energy, and the band definitely did not hold back. They played a collection of songs from their first album Fuzzybrain, which was critically acclaimed. He acknowledged that he wrote the album when he was only seventeen, and that Struble felt proud were he was. As he mentioned in Dallas, he grew up in Texas and playing these venues was a dream come true, and everyone felt extremely happy. Throughout the set, he played songs like “Medicine,” “Stop Making Sense,” “Turn Around” and “Someone Else.” The crowd absolutely went crazy when he played his hit song “Can I Call You Tonight?” and returned for the encore to play the thrilling “Second Nature.” The Texas run of the People in Motion tour was nothing but zestful and spirited. He will be heading on a European tour after the North American run is over, so we highly recommend you catch the band whenever they come to a city near you.
I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
