Joshy Soul and Curtis Harding played a refreshing selection of songs at the Georgia Theatre that provided a fun twist on timeless styles of music.
On Tuesday night (4/26/22), Curtis Harding and Joshy Soul performed at the Georgia Theatre on the second stop of Harding’s US tour. Fans were eager and excited as the artists put on a show that was as fun as it was intriguing. The stage was adorned with flowers, an ode to the album titled If Words Were Flowers.
Joshy Soul entered the stage wearing an outfit that he later announced was thrifted. The California native had a magnetic energy and he was engaged with the audience throughout his performance. In between songs, he explained the inspiration behind them, citing his birthday as the driving force of the song “Celebration” (he’s a Leo!). Joshy Soul is an artist who is not only comfortable in front of a crowd, but makes them feel like they’re watching a friend dance and play his music on stage. His music blends funk and pop to create songs that are impossible not to dance to, and he is the perfect opener for Curtis Harding.
When Curtis Harding came to the stage, his edgy but cool sensibility was apparent – he was wearing a studded leather jacket and large-framed sunglasses that appear to be a staple of his while performing. His music presents themes of love, longing and humanity through a soulful lens. Harding played the guitar and tambourine for a few of his songs, and he is as intentional with his instrumentation as he is with his vocals. Songs like “Can’t Hide It” from his newest album were a crowd favorite. Curtis Harding’s eclectic outfits, along with his floral stage design and talented band members, made for a fun night in The Classic City. The rest of the tour will surely inject a nuanced sense of humanity and playfulness into a world that has spent the last few years in uncertainty.
