COIN stops by Los Angeles during their Uncanny Valley tour.

Last week, Nashville-based pop-rock band COIN came to Los Angeles during their North American tour promoting their most recent LP, Uncanny Valley. BLACKSTARKIDS opened the show with a fun set of multi-genre songs that mainly took influence from 90s hip-hop and pop. The group is made up of a trio of musicians who met each other in high school and have collabed and traveled with artists such as beabadoobee and Glass Animals. After their performance, COIN entered the stage to start their set. The band is made up of Chase Lawrence on vocals and synth, Ryan Winnen on drums, Joe Memmel on guitar, and Matt Martin on bass for the tour specifically.

During their set, they played popular songs from Uncanny Valley such as “Cutie” and “Chapstick.” Although the main purpose of their tour was to promote their recent LP, they made sure to include fan favorites and popular releases from their past albums as well. They performed hits such as “Talk Too Much,” “Crash My Car,” and “Valentine.” Lawrence’s impressive live vocals were supported by back up vocals by both their guitarist and bassist during the set. The band made sure to give their fans a great show and vocalized their gratitude for their audience multiple times throughout the show. They also had some great interactions with the crowd including a moment where Lawrence stood on the barricade, held up by security, and ran down the pit to high five audience members. Some other concert highlights included a fan throwing a disposable camera to the lead vocalist during “Take a Picture” and security guards handing water bottles out to audience members in between sets.
