The viral Argentine duo Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso brought their PAPOTA tour to the Lawn at White Oak Music Hall on August 8th, and it was nothing but a vibe.
The Houston summer heat was intense, but honestly, that did not matter one bit on Friday night at White Oak Music Hall. Ca7riel y Paco Amoroso transformed the Lawn into one big dance floor for their “Papota” tour. The show had been rescheduled from May, so anticipation was high, and you could feel it the moment the gates opened. Fans came ready, proudly wearing Argentina jerseys and even recreating the outfits from the duo’s viral NPR Tiny Desk concert, the performance that introduced them to an international audience and helped launch their rapid rise.
They started the night with “Dumbai,” and I was immediately hooked. I’ve spent a lot of time watching their live performances online, so finally seeing them in person was such a rad experience. Some of my favorite songs of the night were: “Re forro,” “La Que Puede, Puede,” and “Sheesh.” It felt freeing to be part of that shared energy, especially after waiting so long for this show to happen. And honestly, I haven’t danced (and sweat) like that in a while.
Their career has been on a steady rise, and it’s been exciting to watch. I’m really looking forward to what they create next and to continuing to support them as they grow. It feels good to see more Latine artists getting the recognition and representation they deserve in Houston’s music scene. I was happy to see Houston show up big for them. And, judging by the smiles on stage, they definitely felt the love too.
I can’t wait to see them again.
