Alternative British Rock band, bôa, captivates a crowd at Dallas’ historic Longhorn Ballroom

As late comers scrounge for additional parking spaces in the back of the venue, the fans quickly pack in the house at Longhorn Ballroom, either patiently waiting near the stage, or keeping themselves busy while waiting in line to buy merchandise. Coming to Longhorn Ballroom is always a pleasure, not only with the amazing view of the stage, but also the incredible musical history of the venue.

To begin the night at Longhorn, local artist Remy Reilly took the stage to transcend the audience from the first note she sang. Reilly is only 21 years old and yet has the maturity and stage presence of someone who has been performing for decades. As an indie-pop singer-songwriter, Remy has been singing since she was very young. From effortlessly executing her songs to the audience, she captivated the crowd.

Bringing the audience together, Reilly did an absolutely stunning cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You”, having the crowd sing in unison to the legendary shoegaze acoustic anthem. Before the fans knew it, Remy’s time on stage was coming to an end, and with her beautiful voice and energetic stage presence, she left the crowd even more excited to see their beloved headliner take the stage.

Not long after the sound check was underway, it was showtime for bôa, and the crowd roared with anticipation. When bôa took the stage it didn’t take them long to bring the audience together in song.

Bôa, an alternative rock band, originally formed in the U.K. in 1993, currently consists of the beautiful vocalist Jasmine Rodgers with Alex Caird on bass and Lee Sullivan on drums (both of whom are not currently on this tour run). These talented individuals all come together to create a perfectly harmonious sound that has led to their success for years in the music world. With their most famous song “Duvet”, many fans who aren’t familiar with the band itself, can most likely recognize the melody of the addictive song.

On stage, the band had a calming presence that gave the room a sense of relaxation, but also a feeling of excitement and joy flowing throughout the venue. bôa rocked the night away by playing songs from their most known album, Twilight, as well as from their newest album, Whiplash. The overall vibe of the environment was very welcoming and made each concert goer excited to be there as well as wishing the show could prolong longer throughout the night. Unfortunately, even the most exciting concerts and shows don’t last forever, and bôa left the audience asking for more.

Fortunately, the Dallas show was the kickoff to their 2025 tour and had many shows and cities left to stop by, with the amazing indie band, Dream Ivory, opening for the rest of the tour.

I am currently attending the University of North Texas with a photojournalism major. I love going to concerts of all genres, whether I am stage diving or headbanging, I never miss an opportunity to appreciate live music. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting for CD's and records, spending time with my cats, going to art exhibits, and traveling (especially to NYC). My biggest inspiration is Danny Clinch, and one day I aspire to open up my own gallery to showcase my work!
