We The Kings stopped in Houston with support from opener 408 on their Alien Invasion Tour.
Formed in 2005 in Florida, We The Kings have been making music for nearly two decades. “Check Yes Juliet”, a single from their self-titled debut album, became a 2000’s pop-punk anthem and skyrocketed the band to stardom. Since then, the group has released seven more studio albums. Their most recent release, a single titled “Alien”, was released in October of last year. The band kicked off their Alien Invasion Tour with opener 408 in early January and visited White Oak Music Hall on January 31.
We The Kings opened their set with “Skyway Avenue” from their self-titled album, followed by “When We Were Young”, a track featuring Mayday Parade vocalist Derek Sanders. Frontman Travis Clark mentioned that the song is a nod to the When We Were Young Festival — a music festival that features and celebrates pop-punk, emo, and indie artists. Unsurprisingly, We The Kings were actually amongst the When We Were Young Festival’s lineup in 2022. Following this, the band played Secret Valentine, another track from their debut record. The group had palpable onstage chemistry and were interactive with the crowd, making for an all around entertaining experience. Toward the conclusion of their set, the band played their new single “Alien” as well as a cover of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers. It goes without saying that We The Kings had to end the show with “Check Yes Juliet”.
The Alien Invasion Tour will conclude on Sunday, February 4 in We The King’s home state of Florida in Tallahassee.
