Off Record Blog returned to White Oak Music Hall to check out some of the best creatives and small businesses Houston has to offer at the Bazaar on the Bayou.
Being back at the Bazaar was yet another great experience – the ORB team got to experience many new small businesses since the last time we covered the event. Once again, White Oak Music Hall hosted over 70+ vendors with unique and food/dessert businesses, all while making it really easy and accessible to shop and support locals. From mini-terrariums, hand-made plushies, homemade jewelry, and delicious jams, Bazaar on the Bayou had something for everyone. Check out some of our favorites here:
Some Good Juju – A candle and lifestyle boutique where face oils, candles and most importantly, great lip balms are sold. The owner, Julia Watson, has been at it for 3 years and hopefully will continue for many more to come.
LuLu Lathers – With an arrangement of unique items and scents, LuLu Lathers is going on 4 years selling awesomely scented soaps among many other items like scented ornaments and nail oils.
Jennifer Lake Creations – A fellow concert photographer that has done shows with ORB admin Keylee, this vendor was selling a variety of items – homemade masks, custom wallets and concert photo prints, Jennifer really had it all.
Solo Nut Creations – Made with real fruits and flowers, these pressed designs gave a natural aura to these household items.
Spookie Alien Kweenie – ORB admin Keylee found out about this local shop after buying a pair of disco ball earrings at Cactus Music in Houston! It was awesome to see her at the fair selling a wide range of kitschy earrings, stickers and many other kweenie items.
BGirly Lip Sauce – This cool shop specializes in vegan and cruelty-free lip items such as gloss and oils! They had so many lip kits with the cutest packaging, and it was such an honor to meet the business’ co-founder.
Ms.Moss Potter – This proprietor makes handmade terrariums of all sizes – some desk-sized and others that can rest on your neck. These miniscule ecosystems were a sight to behold and own! The owner mentioned she had an ecosystem with a fox, but it was one of her first sold items.
Off The Canvas – This mother-and-daughter duo focuses on selling handmade clothing items and accessories. From jean jackets with custom art to colorful scrunchies/earrings, this little store had a lot of color going for it.
ChestNut Clay Co – Going exactly a year on the day, these Texan inspired earring designs were all any Texan could ask for.
V’s Delight – Probably the tastiest jams this side of the Bayou, and we are proud to say that V’s Apple Butter and Cowboy Candy jams are to die for! Selling for over 7 years but knowing the technique from her grandma since she was young, Venessa has the secret to amazing food at her fingertips.
GoldiesMenagerie – An adorable stand with very cute plushies for sale. From whales, ducks, sheep or even jelly donuts – these were made with love and care. We also have to mention their adorable business cards and store stickers.
TaraHugsArt – Let’s talk about personality. This vendor was selling explicatives and vulgarities on art and it worked! The owner stated that when the cunt piece first exhibited at their shop, it sold out before the shop even opened.
Green Home HTX – As the name might imply, this shop was all about going green. From soaps to reusable paper towels to even detergents for the wash, this shop could solve all your home cleaning needs without the impact.
cultgrrrl – This vendor had many cute knitted plants and other knitted designs.
