Before embarking on their North American tour, Sun June performs in their hometown on February 7th with special guests Daphne Tunes and Little Mazarn.
Mohawk invited audiences to experience an intimate indie show at their indoor stage after being rescheduled from the Empire Control room from the night before. The show brought music listeners together to enjoy a steady incline of energy from varying performances, beginning with a hauntingly beautiful acoustic-folk set and ending the night with electric indie-pop. The differences between these acts brought a little something for everyone to enjoy – starting off with an intimate listen to everyone singing Sun June’s every lyric. The wide variety at this show made it the perfect homecoming show for Sun June to start their tour with a taste of home before making their way across the states.
Kicking the night off was Little Mazarn,an ethereal country-folk group who performs for awe-struck viewers. The duo performs Texas-influenced folk music led by a banjo and accompanied by the likes of key and often a saw being played with a wooden bow to create a whirling, vibrant echo that amplifies the lead singer.
Following Little Mazarn was Daphne Tunes, who creates mellow indie-rock songs that anyone can sway, dance, and groove to. Performing songs that range from dreamy bedroom-pop to jazz-influenced rock, Daphne Tunes are imminent when it comes to their versatility and energy.
Headliners Sun June are the final group to take the stage, and they absolutely captivated their audiences with their mellow dream-pop songs that are catchy and vulnerable. This eclectic group brings elements of electro-pop and indie-rock to produce a warm and inviting audio space – shimmering with delicate synth and electrifying rhythm.
I am a UX Designer and creator of many things. I grew up going to shows in Austin, then moved to Denton to study at UNT. I play in a band and some projects in my college town (mostly bass), I try to write my own music, make art, and create anything that sparks interest. I love disco music, 70's style and dancing!
