Singer / Songwriter Audrey Nuna performs her new album, TRENCH, in Dallas for her first headlining tour.
On May 2nd, Audrey Nuna had her first show in Texas at the House of Blues in Dallas. Performing in the Cambridge Room meant that the show was going to be more intimate compared to other venues, so I was very excited about that. Prior to Audrey’s performance, I saw fans walking around left and right with vinyls in their hands.
The artist ABBIANA opened up and charged up the crowd with whistle notes and her overall energy. Before Audrey came out, the room filled with cheering and a teal colored light that made the room glow.
Audrey came out and opened up with “Locket”, then followed up with “IdgaF”. She was wearing a white buttonup longsleeve paired with a black mesh top. Audrey kept the night going with some old songs, but also with her experimental r&b pop tracks. For “Me & My Baby”, Audrey had an outfit change and came back out with a long transparent flowy trench coat. Serving smooth runs and catchy beats led the crowd to sway their bodies around and lift their hands. Once “Comic Sans” came on, Audrey got up close to fans and was singing with them in their faces.

After “1-Way”, Audrey announced to the crowd, “Everything really is bigger here in Texas” and the crowd giggled. She also said that the weather was “Swamp ass” and then asked about BBQ recommendations. After interacting with the audience, Audrey asked if she could play us a deep cut from 2019 called “Paper”. She went right into the song “Party” with the lights turning red and her disappearing behind the white sheet on stage.
Audrey soon comes back out with metallic gloves covered in dragon-like spikes. For the song, “Cellulite”, she asks everyone to put lighters and flashlights up in the air. Before announcing that her set was almost over, Audrey talks to the crowd again and discusses things from big clouds to loving the smell of babies to having an extra bone in her foot. The crowd then began to scream and dance around for her last song, “damn Right”.

Audrey’s night in Dallas felt personal and fun. The Cambridge Room’s capacity is around three hundred, which gives a much more intimate vibe.
I’m a photographer based in Dallas, Texas, studying Communication Design at Collin College. I love spending time with my two cats, watching movies, or taking moments to recharge and reflect. A fun fact about me is that I used to play the trumpet, and it's a skill I still look back on with fond memories. Some of my favorite artists are Lorde, Charli xcx, Blood Orange, and Sara King.
