Arlo Parks and Clairo perform unforgettable shows at the iconic ACL Moody Theater in the heart of downtown Austin.
Arlo Parks opened up for Clairo at ACL Moody Theater this past Saturday as part of Clairo’s Sling North American Tour. Their Austin performance was one of the last shows of the Sling tour, especially with the tour wrapping up this week. There was buzz in the air as fans lined up for several blocks anxiously awaiting to get in.
Grammy-nominated Arlo Parks was greeted with a thunderous applause as she kicked off the memorable night. The UK singer-songwriter performed songs from her recently released album Collapsed in Sunbeams including fan favorites like “Black Dog” and “Eugene.” The electric stage presence Parks brought on stage was almost indescribable. From jumping around with her bandmates to air-kicks/non-stop dancing, Parks delivered a truly unforgettable performance. Parks had everyone from the ground to the third balcony in a groove throughout her entire set. If you weren’t already a fan of Arlo Parks, you definitely had to check out her music after her set.
The anticipation was palpable inside of the Moody Theater while waiting for Clairo to take stage. The stage was set with a bi-level stage to showcase all of Clairo’s bandmates and their many instruments, and the stage floor with various vintage floor rugs that gave the setting a more intimate feel. The crowd erupted as Clairo finally took the stage and immediately captivated her fans from the first note she played at the piano. Clairo and her bandmates showcased their various musical abilities as they all switched instruments throughout the performance. The majority of Clairo’s set consisted of songs off her most recent album Sling with a few older fan favorites that got the crowd going crazy. Clairo created a truly intimate and organic environment for her fans with lots of acoustic guitar, flutes, clarinets, and saxophones. It felt as if you were getting a look into a rehearsal session with her slower songs as Clairo explained the meaning of songs before performing them while beautiful imagery displayed behind her. It was evident that Clairo connected with her fans on a personal level as she took time to accept gifts from fans and even sang “Happy Birthday” to a fan celebrating their 19th birthday in the front row. Clairo even brought Arlo Parks back on stage mid set to sing with her, collecting even more applause from the crowd. One thing is for sure, Arlo Parks and Clairo left it all on the stage giving fans the gift of an unforgettable night.
