Aly & AJ Heat Up the Night in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre

Aly & AJ set the tone at a Chicago packed show of newer and old songs at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre this past weekend to promote their latest album With Love From.

Aly & AJ, an American pop rock sister duo from California, arrived in Chicago this past weekend. Since being back on the road, they are giving new and old fans a chance to connect with them from when they first discovered their music.

While fans made their way in and the night began, Miya Folick took to the stage as a special guest. Folick is a Los Angeles based singer / songwriter who raised the energy levels with hype and upbeat music and graceful vocals alongside Jacob (@jungerleiderr). She performed a crowd favorite “Get Out of My House” that set the scene for the night for what was to come up next and did a few guitar switches in between her set.

As the sounds of Aly & AJ’s set began, the stage presence showed golden and heavenly visuals with the design they had set on stage for their entrance and starting off with “Open to Something and That Something is You” opening up the night with Aly on the piano and AJ on the guitar. From guitar solos to having to crowd sing along to “Potential Breakup Song” it was a rollercoaster of nostalgia for those who listened to “Rush,” “Like Whoa,” and “Into The Rush” as a kid being performed live.

They wanted to take a moment to talk about gun violence and to recommend fans to take a pledge in regards to them experiencing a mass shooting outside their tour bus in the past; their bus getting hit with multiple bullets and six people losing their lives. To prevent something like this from happening again they asked us to go to pledgetoask.org and all we simply needed to do was to pledge if there is an unlocked gun in the house. This statement was made to save lives or potentially your own as we continue to prevent gun violence.

With this in mind, this heartfelt show was one not to miss – from the fan interactions to the stage visuals creating a soulful night to Aly & AJ’s music that new listeners would enjoy to witness live alongside Miya Folick.

I'm based by the Chicagoland area in Illinois. I would describe myself as a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in photo, design and some illustration. I am a recent graduate in Graphic Design and love being involved in the entertainment industry. I love thrifting, visiting galleries/museums, listening to podcasts and going to countless concerts when I can. My very first concert was the Jonas Brothers when I was very little!
