Against The Current frontwoman Chrissy Costanza announces debut solo single “7 Minutes in Hell” featuring VOILÀ, along with a co-headlining fall tour.
Chrissy Costanza, vocalist from New York Pop-Punk band, Against The Current uncovers her enchanting debut solo single, “7 Minutes In Hell” featuring L.A based band Voilá. Along with the announcement of the breakout track, a surprise co-headlining fall tour featuring both Chrissy and Violá, Spin The Bottle was unveiled leaving fans stunned. The tour will be across both the U.S and Europe/UK, including 2 Texas dates taking place in Dallas and Houston. You can purchase tickets to the upcoming tour here.
This will be Costanza’s second collaboration with VOLIA, as she was featured on their track “Caught It” which was released on May 30th, 2024. Both the band and Chrissy noted their instant connection and onset chemistry when collaborating through the songwriting process and filming of the music video. The colliding musical artistry established a bonding experience that can be heard through the energy of the track ultimately leading up to another feature song. You can watch the music video here.
Despite the uproar of the teasing of the new single, rumors began running wild causing an uprising among fans speculating if the announcement was preluding to Chrissy’s departure from Against The Current. However, Costanza quickly reassured their dedicated fan base that the developing solo project is an extension of herself. She took to instagram and posted a story detailing:
ATC isn’t going anywhere. ATC is always going to be my first love, releasing another project doesn’t mean that stops. I’ve only ever been in one band which I’m crazy lucky to say, and it’s exciting to get to try out some things that don’t fit in the ATC world. Thank you for loving us so much that this message even needs to be said. The last thing I want is for anyone to panic but I’m insanely grateful we have such a crazy passionate family.

The reaction to the statement posted was a sigh of relief and full of excitement. Fans were nothing short of showing their full support and dedication of Costanza’s creative direction of starting out a new project outside of the band.
“7 Minutes In Hell” is a force of nature to be against as it features energetic drums, blaring guitars, and haunting synths that conclude into a rising high that descends into breakdown leading up into the chorus of the song. The track delves into the delicate nature of Costanza’s mindset and allows the vulnerability to bleed through the lyrics and the vocal delivery. The duet with the lead vocalist Luke Eisner from VOILA, seamlessly blends into Costanza’s and sonically shows the contrast between the two as his deep and raw vocals paired with Costanza’s high and raging stylistic voice developing an intoxicating track.
The chorus of the track: “When you kiss me, I can feel fire within me. Heaven’s got me burnin’ // Yeah, you got me playing seven minutes in hell // Touch me, bringing’ me down to my knees, love the taste of sinning // Yeah, you got me playin’ seven minutes in hell” follows the intensity of the magnitude and the overwhelming negative consequences of staying in a complacent stand wanting to get out of the toxic cycle. At last, once falling from grace into a bottomless pit allowed room for assessing the tragic events that occurred into a room full of growth and understanding.
Furthemore, Costanza discussed the meaning behind her new single, “7 Minutes In Hell” as an exploration of the “…unsettling reality of how someone else’s Heaven can be your personal Hell. For years, I was bound by others’ expectations, always questioning why I was drawn to what they deemed ‘wrong.’ This song is the awakening after falling from grace realizing that what they called Hell might actually be my freedom”. There are various elements that can contribute to this controlling manner at hand. Especially within the music industry, it is hard to balance the chaos of pursuing life on the road as a musician and personal life and relationships. The subsequent duality of separating both lives can often dictate one’s thoughts and actions. By breaking apart from the cool, calm, and collective narrative into a burst of flames spreading like wildfire, Costanza chose the latter and became the most authentic and lively version of herself. The process of becoming aware of mistreatment and pretending to be someone you are not is very damaging as it turns your entire world upside down. Once having the epiphany of the situation, the best option is to conquer the issue at hand and take back the life that was stolen from you.
Within the music video, Costanza is a fallen angel navigating the absurdity of both heaven and hell with obscure alleyways. The misconceptions of a false narrative to appease an ungodly reputation causes an never ending nightmare that consumes one’s life. The transition of the costume change from a purely white dress into an angel of darkness with an all black attire is a stunning visualization of Costanza’s inner demons.
The co-headlining “Spin The Bottle” tour with Chrissy Costanza and VOILA will be across the U.K and U.S in 2024. Make sure to grab tickets because they are selling out fast! Full dates are listed below.
