Adrianne Lenker and Steve Fisher put on a captivating performance that would have only been possible within the mural-coated walls of the historical Paramount Theatre.
Earlier this week, Indiana native Adrianne Lenker played a two-night show in Austin for her Bright Future 2024 tour. The theater filled with both young and old, all of which coming together to experience a night of vulnerability and intimacy. Steve Fisher, a folk musician from east Texas, opened the night with only his incredible voice and acoustic guitar, playing songs that felt like those you would hear around a campfire. His set was personal and felt so very familiar, whether that be from his Texas roots or his friendly energy; it felt as if you were hanging out with your grandpa’s best friend you have known your whole life.
When the lights dimmed for Adrianne’s set, the audience welcomed her with clapping and hollers. She played songs from each era of her discography, both new and old, and bantered with the crowd while tuning her guitar. The audience had a shared understanding that this was an intimate show; so everyone sang the words under their breath, allowing Adrianne to fill the room with the echoes of her one-of-a-kind heavenly vocals and wistful lyrics. Her set was magical, each song invoking a new emotion that sent the audience for a whirlwind of reactions, spanning from smiles to sniffles, love to limerence. To thank her for the impeccable performance, Adrianne received a standing ovation from the audience as she exited the stage.
The night was filled with collective effervescence, fueled by the aura of the Paramount Theatre. The way that the acoustics and melodies reverberated throughout the room added to the overall excitement that was felt as an audience member. The crowd came to a consensus that this was Adrianne’s show; and with that, allowed her to sing, and we all sat back to watch and listen. Both Steve Fisher and Adrianne Lenker put on full display their unique talents, encapsulating a room of people with just their voices and their guitars.
I'm an Austin-based photographer and filmmaker. I'm a mother of two (cats) and I love picking up expensive hobbies to spend all of my money on, whether that be tattoos, vinyl, or concerts. My top three artists are Dijon, Mk.gee, and Dominic Fike. I love to travel and learn new ways to fulfill myself creatively. My biggest aspiration is to find the most imaginative way to seamlessly combine my 3 favorite things: film, photography, and music.
