Celebrating 15 years of the band’s album Adelphia, A Skylit Drive ends their tour with a hometown show at Come and Take It Live.
Kicking off the night was local Austin metalcore band Imaginary Me, who played songs from their EP Origins. Lead singer, Alexander Hogle, had amazing vocals that had the crowd head banging and jumping for their whole set. The band did a good job getting the crowd hyped for what was to come for the rest of the night and is worth checking out if you’re into the local Austin metal scene.
Up next was Vampires Everywhere, who are no strangers to Austin or the Come and Take It venue. The band was only supporting A Skylit Drive for their last 4 Texas shows on the tour, but they made sure to give it their all for their Texas fans of course. The band performed their hits, “Immortal Love”, “Undead Heart”, and covers of “The Hills” by The Weeknd and “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. The crowd sang and jumped through their whole set, and with holidays around the corner, of course, lead singer, Michael Vampire, asked the crowd to mosh around for Krampus this Christmas.
Last up were headliners A Skylit Drive. Not only was it the band’s last show of the tour, but it was also a hometown show. Lead singer, Michael Jagmin, talked a bit about growing up in Austin and playing past shows at the venue. The band was happy to be ending the show in such an important city to them, and the crowd made sure not to let down.
The band was celebrating 15 years of their album Adelphia. So of course the setlist consisted of hits off the album. The band performed “Prelude To A Dream”, “Heaven”, “The Boy Without A Demon” and some other of their hits across other albums. Back in 2009 when this album was released, it was high up on the charts. This tour was part 3 of their celebration tour for the album and the band talked a bit on stage about their time since the making of it and reminisced a bit since times passed.
The band kept up and checked in with the crowd all night, making sure everyone was still having fun and the crowd was constantly excited about what song was to play next. The band ended with their hit “Too Little Too Late” off of their album “Identity On Fire” but came back for an encore to play their iconic cover of their Punk Goes Pop cover “Love The Way You Lie” by Rihanna. Despite fans asking the band for 5 more songs for an encore and shouting other songs to perform, the band lightheartedly laughed at the requests and wished their hometown of Austin a good night and thank you for a last show. But the band made sure to make it clear that they’ll be back for future tours to perform those song requests fans were shouting out.
I am a photographer, musician, and cosplayer, based in Austin! I spend a lot of time traveling around for events, and am constantly creating things, listening to music, playing bass guitar, or finding new hobbies to indulge in. I love being surrounded by music, and you can almost always catch me listening to some emo or pop-punk music.
