Mexican Singer Julieta Venegas Performs a Graceful Sold-Out Show in Houston

Mexican-American singer Julieta Venegas played a collection of new and old songs at Houston’s White Oak Music Hall last week, serving as the only Texas show to promote her latest album Tu Historia.

White Oak Music Hall’s downstairs room was packed from front to back, full of fans ready to see the legendary Julieta Venegas. She had no opener and had two hours full of songs prepared, and everyone in the venue felt the anticipation. She promptly came out at 8pm and sat at her piano, where she opened the show with “En tu Orrilla,” followed by “Caminar Sola” and “Mismo Amor.” Everyone sang their hearts out for fan favorites like “Eres Para Mi,” “Algo Esta Cambiando,” “Ese Camino” and “Lento.” She finished the set with “Me Voy” with her iconic accordion, where she bid the audience ado – “no es adios, pero hasta luego.”

Venegas came back out for an encore and fully ended the sold-out show with “Limon y Sal.” She received a standing ovation before she officially left the stage. Throughout the show, she exclaimed how she always loved coming down to Houston due to the warm welcome the city gives her. The show was excellent – she showed her musical chops with her amazing backing band, and Houston cannot wait to welcome her again in the near future.

I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
