BENEE Plays Sold Out Show in Los Angeles with Special Guest, Dreamer Boy

New Zealand singer/songwriter BENEE performs a sold-out show at The Novo in Los Angeles with opening act, Dreamer Boy.

Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, the singer and songwriter came to LA as the last stop of her 2022 world tour. Starting off the show was indie-pop artist Dreamer Boy. The chill and romantic style of his music made fans swoon as he performed hits such as “Puppydog” and “Falling for the Wrong One.” During his single, “Lavender,” (which is his most streamed song on Spotify) an audience member handed him a lavender bouquet – which he held onto for the rest of the song. His set showcased his versatility with music as it incorporated a mix of dream-pop, rap, and alt-rock.

After Dreamer Boy’s performance was a short intermission. Soon later, the lights flashed like crazy as BENEE’s band made their way onto the stage. Shortly after BENEE entered, she was met with a cheering audience of SoCal fans. Throughout her set, BENEE performed fan favorite hits such as “Find an Island” and “Kool” as well as newer songs from her most recent EP, Lychee, which was released earlier this year in February. During her performance of “Night Garden,” she handed the mic to an audience member who flawlessly executed the rap portion of the song. Throughout the show she received multiple gifts from fans as audience members handed and tossed handmade items such as paintings, bracelets, and hats towards the stage. BENEE’s set also showcased her versatility as her music hops from genre to genre including sound of indie-pop, ballads, and electronic dance music. Her quirky and weird style and aesthetic showcased itself not only in her performance and appearance but in her songs as well. Near the end of her set, she performed the Tiktok hit “Supalonely,” during which confetti cannons went off, filling the venue with rainbow colored paper, selected by BENEE herself in honor of pride month.
